Privacy Policy: Haqq

Last updated: July 2026

Haqq ("we," "our," "the app") is a free legal information platform for women in India, available via web, WhatsApp, and Android. This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.

What We Collect

On WhatsApp: When you message Haqq, we receive your phone number and the content of your messages (including voice notes) so we can respond to your questions.

On the web app: We do not require login or account creation. Conversations are not tied to a personal identity unless you choose to share one.

We do not collect: payment information, precise location (unless you explicitly use the SOS feature to share it with your own trusted contacts), or government ID numbers.

How We Use Information

  • To generate a relevant response to your legal question, using AI (Google Gemini) and a curated library of verified legal content
  • To transcribe voice notes into text (Google Gemini) and, where supported, to read replies back to you as audio (Google Cloud Text-to-Speech)
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your phone number or message content with third parties for marketing purposes

Data Storage & Retention

We keep as little as possible:

  • We do not store your conversations in a database. On WhatsApp, recent message history is held only in temporary server memory to keep a single conversation coherent, and is lost whenever the service restarts. On the web and Android app, your conversation history stays on your own device and automatically expires after 24 hours.
  • Operational logs record only a partial phone number (the last four digits) and the length of a message, never the phone number in full or the content of what you wrote or received.
  • Your messages are processed by the third-party AI services listed below to produce a response. We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no system is 100% secure.

Your Rights

You may stop using Haqq at any time. On the app, you can clear your conversation from your device at any point, and it clears itself automatically after 24 hours. Because we do not maintain a database of user conversations, there is generally no stored account data to delete. For any questions about your data, contact us at the email below.

Third-Party Services

Haqq uses:

  • Google Gemini API: to generate responses and to transcribe voice notes
  • Google Cloud Text-to-Speech: to convert replies into audio (voice replies)
  • Meta WhatsApp Business API: for WhatsApp messaging
  • Supabase: to store our library of verified legal reference content (not your conversations)

Each of these providers has its own privacy practices governing data they process on our behalf.

Children's Privacy

Haqq is intended for adult users. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as Haqq evolves. Changes will be posted on this page.
